My wife and I recently contracted Wally, Maurice and their team to renovate our home externally. By this we had them repair all rendering cracks, and faults, caused by settlement and normal wear and tear. Walter (Wally) Antioch, principal of Wally’s Executive Home Management, of Gungahlin, A.C.T., was engaged by us to repair and paint the internal walls and ceilings of our house at Campbell. The house is 50 years old and comprises I large living/dining-room, 3 large-ish bedrooms, kitchen, laundry, bathroom, toilet, entrance hall and passage-way, with a total floor area of about 150 square meters.
Following an initial consultation at our home in late September 2013, Wally immediately prepared and supplied a concise comprehensive quote to our satisfaction and was engaged to commence the work on 1 October. He undertook to work between the hours of 8/9 a.m. and 3/4p.m each day for an estimated period of two weeks (9 working days with 1 public holiday), using top quality paint (Dulux Wash & Wear 101) and materials.
The repair work mostly consisted of fixing of cracks in the cornices and rendered walls, and a few larger areas of loose plaster revealed as the work progressed; a reasonable increase in total cost was agreed on to repair these large areas as they appeared, with wire mesh reinforcement.
A fixed fee covering the shifting of furniture, curtains, pictures etc. by Wally and his crew, had already been agreed. This removed a considerable burden as we are both over 80 years old, and ensured that the work proceeded rapidly without hold-ups. As we lived on the premises throughout the work, some re-positioning of the furniture was carried out by the crew every morning and evening, and our special requirements were all accommodated. We were also quite happy to leave the house entirely in the care of Wally and his crew when we both went shopping for half the day.
The work proceeded smoothly, quietly and right on schedule by Wally’s two to three man crew, with minimal of disturbance to ourselves, flexibly and cheerfully adhering to the proposed time-table in spite of the small unpredictable diversions inevitable in a house of this age, and occasionally working past the 4 p.m. finishing time when necessary. We were continuously consulted as these diversions arose, and Wally contributed several valuable and constructive suggestions, on for example colour, and replacing small items of hardware free of charge.
Wally ensured that the repairs and painting were completed on schedule and to a high standard, and the furniture returned to its original positions. The interior is brighter, fresher and much easier on the eye than previously. We have no hesitation in recommending Wally and his crew for work of this nature.

I am the owner of several properties in the inner north of Canberra. I have over the past couple of years had extensive renovation and development jobs on these properties. I have been very fortunate indeed to have come across Mr. Walter Antioch of executive home. It started with painting work at a Braddon property and then later a new kitchen in my own residence in Turner. I then engaged Mr. Antioch on a house and flat in Downer for renovation work both inside and outside the property. Following this I engaged again Mr. Antioch on substantial renovation work on a rental property in Turner, a large 4 br and 3 bathroom house. I also engaged him for the complete conversion of a back of house into a stylish townhouse fully fitted out to a high standard.
All these properties post the work of Mr. Antioch were rented promptly notwithstanding the difficult rental market that was prevailing at the time in Canberra.
From day one it became very clear to me that i had engaged with an outstanding tradesman in Mr. Antioch and his support team. The high quality of their work was very impressive and more impressive was Mr. Antioch’s guidance on design and fixtures and fittings. Hence it made my situation much easier than what I had expected. In effect I was made part of this harmonious 'team' and we enjoyed the direction and outcomes as they unfolded. I have friends and neighbours who are also impressed with Mr. Antioch work so much so that he has been engaged in other jobs for them. In fact the house in downer was before a very ordinary and plain house to it now being regarded as one of the best in the street.
Mr. Antioch is not only an outstanding tradesman and leader of his team, he is a very decent man who remains calm under all circumstances of problems that arise in this kind of work. He is a kind and generous man and very supportive of his team, no matter what the situation Mr. Antioch will stop work for lunch every day and sit and chat with his team. His outstanding feature is his goal in delivering outcomes that are primarily focused on what the client wants and importantly at the end that the client is very happy with what has been done. It is a rare quality not seen often these days in tradies for home construction works so of course I can but repeat that I am very impressed with Mr. Antioch and will engage with him as more jobs are bound to arise given my property interest position. I wish him every success.

My wife and I have used Walter Antioch and his workmen on numerous occasions over the last ten years for a variety of jobs both in our own home and in a rental property which my wife and I own. The work done has included house and garage painting both internal and external, internal floor tiling, external roof tiling, tracing the origins of leaks in a roof and sealing them, repairs to built in furniture and doors, and other repairs needed to be done and noticed as necessary by Walter or one of his workmen, although we may not have noticed it ourselves. As a measure of the quality of his work we had a serious leak in the roof of our rental property and left it to our agent to arrange the repair. The leak was not properly fixed although the bill received via the agent was substantial so we asked Walter if he could have a look at it. He did and fixed the leak for a satisfactory price.
We would always give Walter first option on any work to do with buildings if he assures us the work is within his competence since we have always been entirely satisfied by the quality of his work and by the costs involved. He provides a detailed quote in advance and we have never found it necessary to query any aspect of these quotes.
We can recommend him without hesitation.
